Title: Queen of the Cairns

Origin Period: 1821 Greece

Dusana: Gyrfalcon

Patron: Governor Haze and Roshan

Rhiannon is only the second Cairn Queen to hold her species' reigns. She was the second cairn created and first to be taken in by the Origin: the first queen.

Rhiannon helped the Origin to establish Cairn culture and order. She is preturnaturally old and has nursed a disdain for humans most of her life.

As Queen, Rhiannon is forced to accept and use power gifted by the species' Patron and creator. With this power, her subjects are forced to obey her word. She is also able to understand any spoken language. She personally abhors the Cairn Patron and his gift and does her best not to use it.

Her species specific ability to bond with a Dusana gives her the shape of a Gyrfalcon. She also has a penchant for clairvoyance. Since there are no male Cairns and because the joining between Dusana and human host damages female reproductive organs the Cairn race is considered sterile. Young girls born to human parents and with the correct genetic markers are drawn to a Dusana. The initial joining affords the new Cairn enough power to breach the veils and cross into Ariatless to find their people. Adult, established Cairns are given the option to form family units and care for these children. Rhiannon was prepared to raise her first child after meeting Bryan Matson and negotiating for his child's future.  She was supposed to take over guardianship of Adrianne Natalie the moment Adrianne was joined. In exchange she agreed to carry the ring Nyx until Adrianne was ready to wear it. While things did not go as planned, Rhiannon still feels responsible for Adrianne and has allowed an emotional bond to grow with the child, however onesided.

Among her people, Rhiannon is known to be brash, indiscriminatly seductive and quick to anger. She has a penchant for violence but is self aware enough to acknowledge her flaws and depend on trusted counsel. Her Consort, Cairistine is widely known and accepted to be her external "conscience".
